The country’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1,650 after five more people died over the past 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health’s release, the fatalities were two elderly males, two middle-aged males and one middle-aged female. The ministry said one of the fatalities had no comorbidities while the other four all had comorbidities including high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, lung disease and obesity.
The ministry also confirmed 117 new cases from samples collected between October 21 and 24.
It said active cases decreased slightly to 4,573 after 195 people were released by the ministry. Of these, 19 people were discharged from public health facilities while 176 people were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases.
Up to yesterday, 618,345 people received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine with 585,737 now fully vaccinated.
