The Four Roads Fire Sta­tion has been closed un­til fur­ther no­tice af­ter a fire of­fi­cer work­ing there con­tract­ed the COVID-19 virus.

The an­nounce­ment came via a me­dia re­lease from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vice yes­ter­day.

The state­ment said that as a pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sure, all oth­er per­son­nel who came in­to con­tact with the of­fi­cer have been ad­vised to self-quar­an­tine un­til they have been test­ed and cleared by the Min­istry of Health.

It added that ad­di­tion­al­ly, the sta­tion has been sani­tised and the process was re­peat­ed since then to en­sure that it is once more hab­it­able for per­son­nel to re­sume their dai­ly du­ties.

The Fire Ser­vice said that tem­po­rary cov­er­age for the ar­eas ser­viced by the Four Roads sta­tion has been im­ple­ment­ed and all emer­gency calls can be di­rect­ed to the Ch­aguara­mas or the Wood­brook Fire Sta­tions.

“The Chief Fire Of­fi­cer as­sures the pub­lic that the Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vice will con­tin­ue to com­ply with the guide­lines set out by the Min­istry of Health through­out all its di­vi­sions dur­ing this pan­dem­ic and em­plores cit­i­zens and em­ploy­ees to ex­er­cise sani­ti­sa­tion and so­cial dis­tanc­ing prac­tices,” the state­ment said.

Last month, the Siparia and Tu­na­puna Po­lice Sta­tions were al­so tem­porar­i­ly closed as a re­sult of of­fi­cers test­ing pos­i­tive for COVID-19.
