Two weeks after being arrested for illegally selling chow in the Croisee, in San Juan, the Chow King has opened his first legitimate shop.
“Before all the lock-up situation I was telling my mom about this spot for a while now and then it just happened and I just push forward more and I got through so I am very thankful,” he added.
Now located not too far from where he was arrested, Joshua Faltine, 20, said that since the incident his workload has increased, but he said everything happens for a reason.
“Today is the day that I actually open my own store and I feeling very happy, excited a little tired as well, I feeling good,” he said.
Faltine had been arrested by officers of the North Eastern Division and slapped with several charges including resisting arrest, illegal vending in public and violation of an officer.
Up to now, he is still unsure of his fines. He said, “The charges are still there, I don’t know if they will be removed, I don’t have any idea.”
After his video went viral on social media, he received an outpouring of support such as people offering to pay his fines, as well as an offer from the chairman of Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation, Kwasi Robinson regarding a spot at the Food Village at the Eddie Hart Savannah, in Tacarigua.
The young businessman also revealed that he had indeed accepted the offer.
Despite that, Faltine said, there were still some bumps to be smoothed out.
He said, “We will be at Eddie Hart.”
He the San Juan branch would be his main point of sale and would be available to cater any events and functions and that delivery would be an option.
Faltine offers a variety of chows for sale including pineapple, grape, apples, pears and even corn.
Through his business and story, he says, “I just want to try to make a difference and to give the youths and them the opportunities to make a difference.”
