Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) says it was affected by the global IT outage.
In a statement, T&TEC said, ” a brief disruption to its online payment platforms, due to the current global IT outage, has been resolved. Customers can therefore resume payments via Quick Pay and Customer Web Access (CWA). Payments at Service Centres via card and cash are also being processed as normal.”
A major outage sparked by an “update” by global cyber-security firm Crowdstrike grounded flights, knocked banks offline and media outlets off air.
According to international reports, Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack.
Guardian Media is also reaching out to local banks to see if they have been affected.
Meanwhile head of Crowdstrike, George Kurtz, has reportedly said the problems were caused by a “defect” in a “content update” for Microsoft Windows devices.
He added, “The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.”
This is a developing story.
