The local gospel and music fraternities are mourning the sudden death of popular radio personality, Jamie Thomas.
Thomas, 46, programme manager and presenter at gospel radio station Word 107.1FM, died of a suspected heart attack at his Oasis Gardens home at around 2 am yesterday.
Jay T, as he was commonly called, was one of the pioneers of gospel radio in Trinidad and Tobago.
He hosted popular Christian shows on I 95.5 FM and ISAAC 98.1 FM. He also hosted Tempo’s Rise and Shine, an inspirational music video show that aired in more than 23 Caribbean countries.
In addition to his work on radio and television, Thomas hosted events for international artistes including Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Donnie Mc Clurkin, Israel and The New Breed, Papa San, Sherwin Gardner and many others.
Thomas also served as a regional judge and host for the Marlin Caribbean Gospel Music Awards.
Thomas is survived by his wife Keisha, parents Charmaine and Michael Thomas and sister Cassie.
