The lo­cal gospel and mu­sic fra­ter­ni­ties are mourn­ing the sud­den death of pop­u­lar ra­dio per­son­al­i­ty, Jamie Thomas.

Thomas, 46, pro­gramme man­ag­er and pre­sen­ter at gospel ra­dio sta­tion Word 107.1FM, died of a sus­pect­ed heart at­tack at his Oa­sis Gar­dens home at around 2 am yes­ter­day.

Jay T, as he was com­mon­ly called, was one of the pi­o­neers of gospel ra­dio in Trinidad and To­ba­go.

He host­ed pop­u­lar Chris­t­ian shows on I 95.5 FM and ISAAC 98.1 FM. He al­so host­ed Tem­po’s Rise and Shine, an in­spi­ra­tional mu­sic video show that aired in more than 23 Caribbean coun­tries.

In ad­di­tion to his work on ra­dio and tele­vi­sion, Thomas host­ed events for in­ter­na­tion­al artistes in­clud­ing Kirk Franklin, Fred Ham­mond, Don­nie Mc Clurkin, Is­rael and The New Breed, Pa­pa San, Sher­win Gard­ner and many oth­ers.

Thomas al­so served as a re­gion­al judge and host for the Mar­lin Caribbean Gospel Mu­sic Awards.

Thomas is sur­vived by his wife Keisha, par­ents Char­maine and Michael Thomas and sis­ter Cassie.
