An un­em­ployed San­gre Grande man was shot and killed in his bed­room ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said Matthew John, 38, of Rod­ney Lane, Tu­rure Road, Guaico, was shot mul­ti­ple times

His moth­er, 58-year-old Vi­o­la Williams, told in­ves­ti­ga­tors she awoke at around 2.50 am to the sound of loud voic­es fol­lowed by ex­plo­sions com­ing from her son’s bed­room. She found him ly­ing face down and mo­tion­less in a pool of blood.

Of­fi­cers from the San­gre Grande Task Force, in­clud­ing Ag Sgt Nar­ine, Dick­son, Ag Cpl Ram­nar­ine, went to the scene and ob­served the vic­tim, who was dressed in a blue t-shirt and mul­ti­coloured plaid box­er shorts, had gun­shots wounds to the head and body.

W/Ag Sgt Charles, Ag/Cpl James, Pcs Gon­za­les and Wren of Arou­ca Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion II and SERU processed the scene and re­cov­ered sev­er­al 9mm cas­ings. Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr Ram­per­sad viewed the body and or­dered its re­moval to the San­gre Grande mor­tu­ary

Of­fi­cers from Arou­ca Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion 2 are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
