An unemployed Sangre Grande man was shot and killed in his bedroom early yesterday morning.
Police said Matthew John, 38, of Rodney Lane, Turure Road, Guaico, was shot multiple times
His mother, 58-year-old Viola Williams, told investigators she awoke at around 2.50 am to the sound of loud voices followed by explosions coming from her son’s bedroom. She found him lying face down and motionless in a pool of blood.
Officers from the Sangre Grande Task Force, including Ag Sgt Narine, Dickson, Ag Cpl Ramnarine, went to the scene and observed the victim, who was dressed in a blue t-shirt and multicoloured plaid boxer shorts, had gunshots wounds to the head and body.
W/Ag Sgt Charles, Ag/Cpl James, Pcs Gonzales and Wren of Arouca Homicide Bureau Region II and SERU processed the scene and recovered several 9mm casings. District Medical Officer Dr Rampersad viewed the body and ordered its removal to the Sangre Grande mortuary
Officers from Arouca Homicide Bureau Region 2 are continuing investigations.
