The Government of Grenada has expressed deep concern about what it described as an escalation of activities in the Caribbean Sea, warning that the region’s stability and the livelihoods of its people must be protected.
The government said the Caribbean Sea remains the lifeblood of fishers and inter-island traders whose safety and freedom of movement are paramount. It added that while illicit maritime activities pose challenges, these must be dealt with through lawful means and stronger regional cooperation.
“Dialogue and diplomacy are the only acceptable tools for resolving differences,” the statement read. “Grenada proudly maintains cordial and constructive relations with all its neighbours and, in this spirit, offers itself as a willing interlocutor and facilitator for peaceful dialogue.”
Reaffirming its commitment to the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, Grenada called on regional and international partners to respect and uphold this principle as tensions heighten.
