Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says the Police Service has no intelligence on any sitting member of Government being a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into the Drug Sou Sou company.

This morning during a sitting of the Senate, Opposition Senator Wade Mark said he received information that three PNM politicians approached members of the DSS and gave them money to buy votes from the public in the leadup to General Election 2020. He even questioned if the DSS is a slush fund established by the PNM to bribe the public before they went to the polls.

Guardian Media contacted Commissioner Griffith who is on vacation in Ireland but he did say that he is briefed daily on the investigation. And he said up to the time of his departure, “we have no intelligence of any sitting Government MP involved in this investigation.”

Guadian Media asked if any former MP or even current Opposition MP is a person of interest but to that question, he declined to comment.
Meanwhile, PNM General Secretary Foster Cummings is calling the allegation a red herring and a distraction from the UNC to take attention away from their failure at the polls. Cummings said if Senator Mark has such information then he should take it to the police.
