A 38-year-old man was shot dead while sitting in his vehicle in Charlieville, Chaguanas, on Wednesday evening.
Police identified the victim as Sa-id Hamid Khan of Baksh Street, Tunapuna. Investigators said Khan was originally from Chaguanas.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at about 7 pm. Khan was parked in his Honda Vezel SUV in front of the General Accident Insurance compound when a vehicle pulled up nearby.
Police said a gunman exited the vehicle and opened fire, shooting Khan multiple times before fleeing the scene. Khan died at the location.
Investigators believe a lone gunman carried out the attack. Up to yesterday, police had not established a motive for the killing.
Officers of the Central Division responded and carried out initial inquiries. Detectives attached to Homicide South have since taken over the investigation.
Police are continuing inquiries and are appealing to anyone with information to contact investigators.
