A 32-year-old taxi driver who was seen brandishing a gun while liming in Malabar on Sunday night, was found dead shortly after.
Police said Devanand Dwarika was liming near Gardenia and Croton Streets, around 10 pm when he was seen with the gun.
Residents said Dwarika made threats to several people in the area before leaving and returning shortly after with two other people.
Neighbours told police they heard gunshots.
On checking, they found Dwarika bleeding and lying down in the nearby recreation grounds.
Northern Division police were called in with a district medical officer who declared Dwarika dead at the scene.
Investigators said Dwarika was holding a black side bag, which contained a revolver with three live rounds of ammunition and two spent shells in the chamber.
Officers of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU) found three spent 9-millimetre shell casings near his body.
Region II Homicide investigators are continuing enquiries.
