Health Minister Therese Baptiste-Cornelis yesterday encouraged the nation to adopt healthy lifestyles. Baptiste-Cornelis spoke to participants of the Caribbean Wellness Day 5k Walk/Run at the Queen's Park Savannah, opposite Memorial Park. The area was transformed into a health fair with white tents lining parts of the grassy area. Under the tents people got the opportunity to test their blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure.
Also, there were booths which portrayed healthy eating habits, letting passers-by know what should be on their plates. People also got samples of yogurt, cereal and drinks to appease their appetites. It was a day that encompassed all aspects of healthy living and an aerobic warm-up took place just before the walk/run.
After the trek around the Savannah and a bottle of water everyone enjoyed the night's entertainment. The Minister who happily encouraged participants just before the race, ran out of their way just as the race started. She was right on spot to bestow the winner of the race, Lionel Dandrad with a medal. She also waited for many others to cross the finish line. Baptiste-Cornelis thanked participants for showing their support.
