The Min­istry of Health has is­sued an alert on We­govy tablets fol­low­ing re­ports of cir­cu­la­tion of a fal­si­fied prod­uct. The alert was is­sued on Feb­ru­ary 3, 2026, through the Chem­istry, Food and Drugs Di­vi­sion.

The min­istry said We­govy con­tains the ac­tive in­gre­di­ent Semaglu­tide and is au­tho­rised for use in the Unit­ed States since De­cem­ber 2025. It said the prod­uct is not au­tho­rised for use in Trinidad and To­ba­go or oth­er ju­ris­dic­tions.

Ac­cord­ing to the min­istry, con­cerns ex­ist that the prod­uct may en­ter oth­er mar­kets through il­le­gal im­por­ta­tion. It said this rais­es the risk of fal­si­fied med­i­cines be­ing sold.

The Min­istry of Health said the prod­uct is not reg­is­tered. As a pre­cau­tion, it ad­vised any­one who may have the drug to stop us­ing it. The min­istry said per­sons should seek guid­ance from a health pro­fes­sion­al and re­port the mat­ter to the Chem­istry, Food and Drugs Di­vi­sion.
