The Ministry of Health has issued an alert on Wegovy tablets following reports of circulation of a falsified product. The alert was issued on February 3, 2026, through the Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division.
The ministry said Wegovy contains the active ingredient Semaglutide and is authorised for use in the United States since December 2025. It said the product is not authorised for use in Trinidad and Tobago or other jurisdictions.
According to the ministry, concerns exist that the product may enter other markets through illegal importation. It said this raises the risk of falsified medicines being sold.
The Ministry of Health said the product is not registered. As a precaution, it advised anyone who may have the drug to stop using it. The ministry said persons should seek guidance from a health professional and report the matter to the Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division.
