The Ministry of Health has released the locations of COVID-19 cases in Trinidad and Tobago using a Geographic Information System (GIS).

In a virtual press conference on Thursday, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Roshan Parasram said: "has been helping significantly in the tracing of contacts and tracing of cases as we progress through this epidemic."

The system, he said, provides an evidence based platform to guide decisions.

"We are not making decisions in an ad-hoc manner. We are using technology to assist us," he said.

However, in a subsequent interview with Guardian Media over the telephone, the CMO indicated the map presented at the press conference was a sample, representing only some 10 cases.

He said the completely populated map should be available by next week.
