Healthcare workers attached to the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) have been warned that they cannot leave work at the end of their shift unless the next person on call arrives.

An internal memo was sent out today reminding the workers of an earlier memo sent on April 19 2022, which said that if no relief arrives, even at the end of their shift, healthcare workers involved in patient care will be required to continue working until a replacement arrives.

If the worker does not follow this rule, then the SWRHA warns that it will be viewed as gross misconduct as their actions would compromise patient care.

The SWRHA workers are also told that if they are unable to report to their assigned facility they may report for duty at any of the following facilities during the Tropical Storm Warning.
