Heavy rains in the capital and surrounding areas today caused traffic to come to a standstill as rapidly rising flood waters crossed roads and sent motorists and pedestrians searching for higher ground.
The heavy showers which resulted from the movement of a tropical wave across the island left many vehicle owners having to carry out mopping-up operations.
Among the areas adversely affected along the East-West Corridor included Champs Fleurs, Barataria, San Juan, Mt Hope, and Beetham Gardens.
