In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the killing of a woman whose body was found se­mi-nude in­side an un­li­censed ve­hi­cle near the John John Tow­ers, South Quay, yes­ter­day morn­ing.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as Jamelia Lewis, of no fixed place of abode.

Res­i­dents of the St Joseph Road Plan­nings re­port­ed hear­ing sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions around 9 pm on Sun­day, but did not ven­ture out­side to in­ves­ti­gate.

Around 7 am yes­ter­day, of­fi­cers on pa­trol found Lewis’ body in­side a black Isuzu 4x4 parked on a grassy va­cant lot near the John John Tow­ers.

The ve­hi­cle did not bear any li­cence plates. Up­on check­ing, of­fi­cers found that the pas­sen­ger-side glass was shat­tered and Lewis was stretched across the pas­sen­ger seat to­wards the dri­ver’s seat.

Sev­er­al shell cas­ings were al­so ob­served on the ground, prompt­ing the of­fi­cers to alert se­nior of­fi­cials.

Foren­sic of­fi­cers lat­er re­trieved four spent 9mm shell cas­ings from the scene.

Po­lice of­fi­cials con­firmed that Lewis usu­al­ly slept in the truck and would ped­dle items to earn cash.

They al­so con­firmed that she had been in­car­cer­at­ed sev­er­al times, with her most re­cent in­car­cer­a­tion oc­cur­ring last week.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
