One man was ar­rest­ed and a quan­ti­ty of stolen items re­cov­ered dur­ing ex­er­cis­es in the North­ern Di­vi­sion on Mon­day. Af­ter sev­er­al re­ports of house break­ings in the dis­trict, a house search ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed in the Mc In­roy Street, Curepe area.

On search­ing one of the homes, they re­cov­ered sev­er­al items of jew­ellery, watch­es, lap­tops, cell phones and the sus­pect was ar­rest­ed.

Al­so, dur­ing a drug block ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in the La Hor­quet­ta/San Raphael Dis­tricts be­tween12:50pm and 4:30pm, of­fi­cers spot­ted a man, who looked in the di­rec­tion of the marked po­lice ve­hi­cle and ran to­wards the Ca­roni Riv­er.

Dur­ing his ef­forts to es­cape a yel­low, rec­tan­gu­lar pack­age fell from the sus­pect’s back pack. The sus­pect was able to es­cape cap­ture when he jumped in­to the flood­ed riv­er and pro­ceed­ed to­wards the Green­vale or Cara­po area North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, South of­fi­cers did a com­pre­hen­sive search but did not find the sus­pect, fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion of the pack­age re­vealed 520 grams of mar­i­jua­na.
