The Indian High Commission has established an India Corner at the library of the Parliament, featuring a curated collection of 351 books covering topics such as Indian polity, diplomacy, economy, history, culture, and the arts.
The exhibition is envisioned as a resource centre for parliamentarians and parliamentary staff, providing access to literature that deepens understanding of India’s democratic and cultural landscape.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jagdeo Singh described the India Corner as “a reaffirmation of the long and historic ties between India and Trinidad and Tobago, and a tangible symbol of knowledge exchange.”
He noted that the contribution by the Government of India stands as “a testament to cultural understanding and mutual respect.”
High Commissioner of India, Dr Pradeep Rajpurohit expressed appreciation to the Speaker and Parliament officials for facilitating the initiative, and pledged continued support to further enrich the collection with additional books and literary materials in the future.
India and Trinidad and Tobago share a longstanding relationship rooted in deep people-to-people ties and parliamentary collaboration.
The India Corner, officials said, represents another step in strengthening cultural linkages and promoting mutual understanding between the two democracies.
