Shas­tri Boodan

In­di­an folk singer Ma­li­ni Awasthi thrilled the au­di­ence at the Na­tion­al Coun­cil for In­di­an Cul­ture (NCIC), at the Na­gar site, Ch­agua­nas on Sat­ur­day night with her per­for­mance.

The au­di­ence was treat­ed to a free show which al­so fea­tured per­for­mances from lo­cal dancers Pryia Per­sad and mem­bers of the Khal­nayak Acad­e­my of Dance.

Awasthi’S per­for­mance was ac­com­pa­nied by her live band from In­dia. Awasthi was born in Ut­tar Pradesh, In­dia in 1966. She be­gan per­form­ing on stage at the age of ten.

She com­plet­ed her post grad­u­a­tion in mu­sic in 1988 from Luc­know’s Bhatkhande Sangeet Uni­ver­si­ty and start­ed per­form­ing out­side of In­dia in the 1990s.

In­di­an High Com­mis­sion­er Biswadip Dey and NCIC pres­i­dent De­ok­ien­anan Shar­ma were among the dig­ni­taries who brought greet­ings at the event.
