Indian folk singer Malini Awasthi thrilled the audience at the National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC), at the Nagar site, Chaguanas on Saturday night with her performance.
The audience was treated to a free show which also featured performances from local dancers Pryia Persad and members of the Khalnayak Academy of Dance.
Awasthi’S performance was accompanied by her live band from India. Awasthi was born in Uttar Pradesh, India in 1966. She began performing on stage at the age of ten.
She completed her post graduation in music in 1988 from Lucknow’s Bhatkhande Sangeet University and started performing outside of India in the 1990s.
Indian High Commissioner Biswadip Dey and NCIC president Deokienanan Sharma were among the dignitaries who brought greetings at the event.
