The Integrity Commission has confirmed that there is no investigation into Tobago House of Assembly Secretary, Trevor James, for malfeasance.
This comes after a fake document circulated on social media claiming that James, who is responsible for the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and Urban Development was being investigated for wrongdoing and extortion of millions from a Trinidad contractor.
However, the Commission, in a release today, denounced the fake document and asked people to ignore it. It said it is concerned about the unauthorized use of their official letterhead and a forged signature.
The Commission promised to be professional and honest and asked people to stop sharing fake documents.
It reminded the public to check information from trustworthy sources and be careful when seeing sensitive information on social media.
James could not yet be reached for comment.
