Po­lice are in search of a man who was chopped by a pro­pri­etor af­ter he tried to break in­to a sports bar in Bar­rack­pore on Wednes­day night.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Jia Feng Su, 37, was awake around mid­night at the Hap­py Times Sports Bar, when he saw a man on his CCTV cam­era try­ing to break in­to the rear of his busi­ness place.

He called out to his em­ploy­ee Yanx­ing Feng, 27, who sleeps in the down­stairs apart­ment.

Feng saw the in­trud­er pok­ing his hand through a hole in the back door. Po­lice said he be­came afraid and chopped the in­trud­er in the hand. The in­trud­er ran away leav­ing a trail of blood.

Po­lice fol­lowed the trail in­to Sukhan Trace, Bar­rack­pore, but they were un­able to find the sus­pect.

A team of of­fi­cers led by Sgt Ma­haraj, PC Gumbs, WPC Tor­res and PC Ar­joon vis­it­ed the scene, along with of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force.

All hos­pi­tals—in­clud­ing the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty, the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal and sur­round­ing health cen­tres—have been put on alert to be on the look­out for the sus­pect.
