Police are in search of a man who was chopped by a proprietor after he tried to break into a sports bar in Barrackpore on Wednesday night.
Investigators said Jia Feng Su, 37, was awake around midnight at the Happy Times Sports Bar, when he saw a man on his CCTV camera trying to break into the rear of his business place.
He called out to his employee Yanxing Feng, 27, who sleeps in the downstairs apartment.
Feng saw the intruder poking his hand through a hole in the back door. Police said he became afraid and chopped the intruder in the hand. The intruder ran away leaving a trail of blood.
Police followed the trail into Sukhan Trace, Barrackpore, but they were unable to find the suspect.
A team of officers led by Sgt Maharaj, PC Gumbs, WPC Torres and PC Arjoon visited the scene, along with officers of the Southern Division Task Force.
All hospitals—including the Princes Town District Health Facility, the San Fernando General Hospital and surrounding health centres—have been put on alert to be on the lookout for the suspect.
