In what police suspect to be a retaliation shooting stemming from the murder of a gang leader, gunmen shot and killed a man from the John John, Laventille area yesterday.
The victim was identified as Anderson Murray, also known as Atiba Thomas.
According to a police report, around 12.30 pm, Cpl Primdass and a party of officers assigned to the Inter-Agency Task Force received information of a man seen lying in a track off a road in John John, Laventille.
Upon checking, the officers saw Murray with multiple gunshot wounds about the body lying on the road. Police said he was already dead by the time they arrived.
The scene was visited by Inspector Woods-Dolloway, ASP Soaker, Inspector Sooklalsingh, Inspector Lynch and officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations.
Investigators are working on the theory that Murray was killed in retaliation for the murder of gang leader Anthon “Boombie, Boombi, Boom” Boney. (RDR)
