Judiciary designates two more courts to try criminal matters

The Ju­di­cia­ry has des­ig­nat­ed that crim­i­nal mat­ters can now be heard at the O'Meara and Princes Town court lo­ca­tions.

Ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Gazette, on April 20, 2022, the O'Meara Ju­di­cial Cen­tre at the In­dus­tri­al Es­tate in Ari­ma, was des­ig­nat­ed as a place for the sit­ting of the Supreme Court and Sum­ma­ry Courts and for the ex­er­cise of the ju­ris­dic­tion of the Supreme Court in crim­i­nal mat­ters.

Ac­cord­ing to the Gazette, on Ju­ly 5, 2022 the Princes Town Court—lo­cat­ed along the Na­pari­ma-Ma­yaro Road—was al­so des­ig­nat­ed as a place for the ex­er­cise of the ju­ris­dic­tion of the Supreme Court in crim­i­nal mat­ters.

The Gazette said both courts will ac­com­mo­date mat­ters en­tered or re­quired to be tried in Port of Spain and San Fer­nan­do.
