Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar claims to have slashed expenditure in advertising, rentals, purchase of luxury vehicles and "unnecessary" security details.
In a post to the UNC's Facebook page, Persad-Bissessar said she was redirecting that money to serve national security, fix roads and schools and healthcare and social support.
"For far too long, your tax dollars have gone to waste — millions spent on ads, luxury vehicles, expensive rentals, and perks for a privileged few," the statement said.
She deemed it "unnecessary spending across government."
Persad-Bissessar won the April 28 General Elections when the UNC defeated the PNM winning 26 seats while the latter won 13 seats. TPP in Tobago won two seats.
