Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is doubling down on her position that the development in the Estate Management and Business Development Company (EMBD) matter allows for the PNM to campaign on the premise that "all Indian is thief."
Responding to questions shortly after Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley rubbishes the Opposition Leader's narrative during a press conference, Persad Bissessar stated that quote "the PNM only gets away with doing this over and over at elections because no one called them out before and they are supported by pseudo-intellectuals, weak men and eat a food fake elites who are solely driven by financial gain from the government."
Dr Rowley slammed Persad-Bissessar and labelled her deceitful. He added that East Indians have nothing to fear and that the Opposition Leader's comments were highly offensive.
Persad Bissessar defended Dr Moonilal amid recent new allegations of corruption in the EMBD court matter.
Persad-Bissessar labelled the Prime Minister's press conference as "useless" and accused Dr Rowley of rehashing what she said were the same lazy talking points he had used for years. Quote: "No one cares; he's a lame duck whose only achievement in office is having no achievement while in office."
Asked if she was concerned that the Prime Minister was disclosing details about matters before the court, Persad-Bissessar stated "He's giving these details as part of his deliberate and coordinated racist propaganda campaign for the PNM ground troops to use in the general election. The PNM ground campaign for decades has always been to paint Indians as UNC voting thieves, idol worshippers, lagoon dwellers, rum drinkers and cane cutters who have no moral and spiritual values."
