Ahead of tomorrow’s Budget presentation by Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar admitted that her government “cannot give everybody everything,” but promised to try.
Speaking at her Divali celebrations at her constituency office in Penal last night, Persad-Bissessar acknowledged that not everyone would be pleased with the budget, saying, “After Monday I hope you will still be thanking all of us.”
She referred to comments by the pundit during the puja that, “In life you cannot please everybody. There will always be some who will not be happy, some will be angry, and some will be sad and all the words in between.”
Her response, she said, was, “We cannot give everybody everything, but we can try.”
