A Morvant father of three girls, who was reportedly shot by two male relatives early Saturday, has died.
The passing of Noel Fermin, 47, of Mon Repos Road, Morvant, took the murder count to 509 for the year thus far.
He was allegedly shot by the suspects around 1.30 am at Hillside Road, Mon Repos Road, Morvant.
Fermin was warded at hospital for two days in a critical condition before he died.
Officers were alerted about the shooting on Saturday and arrived to find Fermin lying on the ground with his hands and feet tied. He had also been shot several times.
As officers took the injured man to the hospital, he told them two male relatives had threatened to kill him the night before. He also disclosed that the men returned around 1.15 am on Saturday armed with firearms and robbed him of two televisions before forcing him into a car. They then drove him to Hillside Road where they dragged him out and placed him to kneel in the middle of road before shooting him. The suspects later drove off, leaving Fermin to die.
Relatives yesterday described the tradesman as, “the life of the party...liked to lime, liked to drink and liked to have a good time.”
Speaking at the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday, one of his relatives said they had no knowledge of whether he had been threatened by anyone before the shooting on the weekend.
Asked how she felt about the crime situation, which had now snatched her loved one, she responded immediately, “It out of control.”
Asked if she felt the police were doing enough, she said, “It ain’t even look like they getting anything done. In my view, it doesn’t look like they solving much of the incidents...from the time you turn left, is death...you turn right, is death. Is like so much. I don’t even know if the police could pick up.”
A male relative chimed in, “You not even seeing the police.”
However, the woman hurriedly defended the lawmen. “I can’t say, the police and them must be doing their job. It is just too much, but before being a police...they are also human beings, they probably doing the best they can.” She added, “Is like the criminals and them take over.”
