A La Horquetta teenager had to be hospitalised on Friday night after being shot multiple times in both legs as he lay asleep on a couch.
The 14-year-old of Phase 2, La Horquetta – was reportedly asleep on the couch which is close to the front door of the living room, when around 11.30 pm on October 3, a volley of gunshots were heard.
Upon checking, the victim’s aunt found him bleeding from multiple wounds and alerted his parents who rushed him to the Arima Health Facility.
Officers recovered 16 spent shell casings on the road in front of the victim’s house, which consisted of a variety of 9 mm and 40 calibre ammunition.
The victim was treated for injuries to the left lower leg and right upper leg, before being warded in a stable condition.
