Homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve Tues­day night’s mur­der of a La Ro­main man was drug-re­lat­ed.Ra­heem Richards, 19, of Nice Street, La Ro­main, died on Pem­ber­ton Street af­ter suf­fer­ing sev­er­al gun­shot wounds.

Mean­while, 33-year-old labour­er Mark De La Bastide was in sta­ble con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, re­cov­er­ing from wounds to his right shoul­der and both legs.
A re­port said the vic­tims were among a group of men play­ing cards on the road­side when, at 11.30 pm, a gun­man walked up a near­by drain and opened fire on them.

Af­ter hit­ting Richards and De La Bastide, the gun­man ran off.
ASP Phillip, Sgt Bac­chus, Sgt Har­riper­sad, and oth­er po­lice from the South­ern Di­vi­sion, vis­it­ed the scene.
Sgt Forbes, PC Noel and oth­er po­lice from the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion III al­so vis­it­ed and gath­ered ev­i­dence.
