A 36-year-old labour­er has been ar­rest­ed af­ter al­leged­ly lock­ing the moth­er of his child in­side his house and at­tempt­ing to set it on fire.

Po­lice said the 25-year-old woman re­port­ed that around 11 pm on Sun­day, she was at the sus­pect’s home on Three Hands Road, La Brea when an ar­gu­ment broke out be­tween the two of them.

She al­leged that the man locked her in­side the house, lit pieces of pa­per on fire, and threw them in­to the build­ing while threat­en­ing to kill her. The woman man­aged to es­cape and re­port­ed the in­ci­dent to the La Brea Po­lice Sta­tion.

Cpl Nar­ine and PC Ramkissoon re­spond­ed and ar­rest­ed the sus­pect. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing. - Sascha Wil­son
