One of three men charged with breaching a protection order has been jailed for six months.
Terron Williams, 40, pleaded guilty while the other two men Selvon Andrews and Jesse Ramrattan pleaded not guilty when they appeared virtually in the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court.
They were arrested during an anti-crime exercise over the weekend which was spearheaded by Supt Guy-Alleyne and Insp Weaver-Ali of the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU).
Williams, a labourer, of Indian Walk, Moruga breached a protection order on three occasions in June, November, and December last year.
He was charged by PCs Valentine and Mohammed of the southern branch of the GBVU.
After hearing the evidence, Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine sentenced him to two months on each charge to run consecutively.
Meanwhile, Andrews, 39, also of Indian Walk, Moruga was charged with five offences, including three counts of breaching a protection order.
He allegedly committed those offences in November and December last year and earlier this month.
He was also charged with malicious damage and larceny.
The charges were laid by PC Crawford, WPC Fleming, and WPC Sylvan The magistrate granted him $25,000 magistracy registrar approval bail or a cash bail of $7,000. The matter was adjourned to February 8.
Ramrattan, 33, of St Julian Village, Princes Town, was charged by WPC Boxie-Aguillera with breaching a protection order and malicious wounding.
The offences were allegedly committed last December.
He was granted $25,000 magistracy registrar approval bail or in the alternative $10,000 cash bail. The matter was adjourned to February 2. Ag Insp Ramdeo Sookdeo prosecuted in the matters.
