James Lambert has been sworn in for a fourth consecutive term in office as president-general of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW).
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday at the NUGFW’s head office located at Upper Henry Street in Port-of-Spain.
Lambert, in delivering a brief victory speech, to the small gathering which consisted of union members and newly-elected members, listed some issues that he will seek to address immediately including raising the retirement age from 60 to 65 for daily paid workers from the local, central government and the Tobago House of Assembly, salary negotiations, pension packages and housing for Tobago workers.
Lambert disclosed that there is a planned meeting with the Minister of Finance Colm Imbert on November 20 where such issues will be raised and discussed in depth.
Lambert’s party, Team Faithful, retained the 15 contested posts, with new and re-elected members.
