Cherry-Ann Fox and family are facing eviction from their Las Cuevas home.

A mother held back tears yesterday, not knowing where she will call home for her family from today.

Cherry-Ann Fox received a court order last Thursday for her to quit the private property where she had spent 17 years building her family.

“I living here too long. I never get no summons or anything to come to court and I getting all these set of documents. And now, they telling me I have until the morning to move out my place,” Fox told Guardian Media yesterday.

The mother of three said that she is even more worried because her 20-year-old son struggles with cerebral palsy.

The Las Cuevas family is expected to move out by today.

Fox’s husband spent the weekend demolishing the physical structure of their home. She said they do not want the land’s owner to benefit from their years of hard work.

Only a section of their roof remained yesterday to ensure that her son has a covering, as he is forced to spend the majority of his day on a mattress.

Fox’s son, who is bed-ridden, receives grants from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services but his mother said they were inconsistent.

This never hindered Fox and her husband from providing and covering all her son’s needs. This they did by doing welding and painting jobs in the community.

“Right now, inside my house leaking. It come like I have to break my thing. If I ain’t break my thing, it coming like them go be ending up with my thing,” she said.

“It hard. It come like this was my kids’ future. What they getting now?” Fox emotionally added.

“I want justice.”

Guardian Media contacted land owner Unanan Persad, who said everything he did was above board. He said he petitioned the court on the order which was granted, requiring the family to move.
