A 30-year-old man was arrested at his Laventille home yesterday morning, in relation to the assault and robbery of a US citizen earlier this month.
Police said officers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force visited a house in Upper Church Street at around 4.20 am with a search warrant for guns and ammunition.
Officers searched the house but did not find anything illegal, but arrested the man as he was a suspect in the robbery.
He was taken to the Besson Street Police Station where he will be questioned and possibly charged.
Police also searched other houses in Quarry Street, Laventille, Belmont and Long Circular Road, St James, but did not find anything illegal.
The exercise was co-ordinated by ACP Maharaj, Snr Supt Mohammed and led by Supt Etienne, ASPs Walker and Bacchus, Insp Khan with supervision from Sgt Alexander, PCs Huggins, Abdul Latif, Nunes, Boucaud, George, Khamchan, Chaitu, Sayers, D’Abreao, Legerton and Remy.
