Laventille man held for robbing US citizen

A 30-year-old man was ar­rest­ed at his Laven­tille home ear­ly on Tues­day morn­ing in re­la­tion to the as­sault and rob­bery of a US cit­i­zen ear­li­er this month.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Task Force vis­it­ed a house in Up­per Church Street, Laven­tille, at around 4.20 am with a search war­rant for guns and am­mu­ni­tion.

Of­fi­cers searched the house but didn't find any­thing il­le­gal but still ar­rest­ed the man as he was a sus­pect in the rob­bery.

He was tak­en to the Besson Street po­lice sta­tion where he will be ques­tioned and pos­si­bly charged.

Po­lice al­so searched hous­es in Quar­ry Street, Laven­tille, Bel­mont and Long Cir­cu­lar Road, St James but did not find any­thing il­le­gal.

The ex­er­cise was co-or­di­nat­ed by ACP Ma­haraj, Snr Supt Mo­hammed and led by Supt Eti­enne, ASPs Walk­er and Bac­chus, In­sp Khan with su­per­vi­sion from Sgt Alexan­der, PCs Hug­gins, Ab­dul Latif, Nunes, Bou­caud, George, Kham­chan, Chaitu, Say­ers, D'Abreao, Leg­erton and Re­my.
