Following the re-arrest of Housing Minister and Caroni Central MP David Lee, Guardian Media went into his constituency yesterday to canvass his constituents on how they felt about the development.
What do you think of the re-arrest of David Lee
Ramdeo Ramjass, 61, Sesame Street, Preysal
“I believe he is innocent until proven guilty. I believe this whole thing is a set-up, this thing did not happen just like that. Since David Lee came into the community, we are seeing water like that. I had an incident by me and when I called a police, it was a quick response, Since he come here the place is changing, we are seeing development. He did a lot of work since he came in. This thing is to tarnish his name and bring him down.”
Ben de la Rosa, 67, Caroni Central
“I only knew him since he came into the area. As the honourable Prime Minister has said, this has happened and we need to let the court do what the court has to do and we have to abide by what the courts find and what the court decides. He has been good to the community, only Sunday he was here cleaning up the sidewalk.”
Jasmine Ali, Mission Road, Freeport
“It disheartens me; this is an old issue that has been resurrected for whatever reason. It is very concerning that persons are bringing this back up in this capacity to tarnish this gentleman’s name at this time. It’s unfortunate, I am definitely sure its political.”
Joseph John, 61, Freeport
“I believe that it have a lil bit of politics in it and they were too quick to arrest him, so it didn’t look good at all.”
Solomon antione, 63, Preysal
“It shocked me. This was a matter that was dismissed and to see him before the court again to answer this matter, I am amazed that the system choose to come after the man. He is my MP and I am voicing my support that he would see this through.”
Larry Ramjattan, 47, Preysal
“When I saw it yesterday on the television, we were very much alarmed and we were disappointed because we did not have any prior knowledge of Mr David Lee being in any such thing. We know him as a clean person, so it was disappointing to us to see what’s happening, we hope that all things go well with our MP and all things be in his favour.”
