Fol­low­ing the re-ar­rest of Hous­ing Min­is­ter and Ca­roni Cen­tral MP David Lee, Guardian Me­dia went in­to his con­stituen­cy yes­ter­day to can­vass his con­stituents on how they felt about the de­vel­op­ment.

Ramdeo Ram­jass, 61, Sesame Street, Preysal

“I be­lieve he is in­no­cent un­til proven guilty. I be­lieve this whole thing is a set-up, this thing did not hap­pen just like that. Since David Lee came in­to the com­mu­ni­ty, we are see­ing wa­ter like that. I had an in­ci­dent by me and when I called a po­lice, it was a quick re­sponse, Since he come here the place is chang­ing, we are see­ing de­vel­op­ment. He did a lot of work since he came in. This thing is to tar­nish his name and bring him down.”

Ben de la Rosa, 67, Ca­roni Cen­tral

“I on­ly knew him since he came in­to the area. As the ho­n­ourable Prime Min­is­ter has said, this has hap­pened and we need to let the court do what the court has to do and we have to abide by what the courts find and what the court de­cides. He has been good to the com­mu­ni­ty, on­ly Sun­day he was here clean­ing up the side­walk.”

Jas­mine Ali, Mis­sion Road, Freeport

“It dis­heart­ens me; this is an old is­sue that has been res­ur­rect­ed for what­ev­er rea­son. It is very con­cern­ing that per­sons are bring­ing this back up in this ca­pac­i­ty to tar­nish this gen­tle­man’s name at this time. It’s un­for­tu­nate, I am def­i­nite­ly sure its po­lit­i­cal.”

“I be­lieve that it have a lil bit of pol­i­tics in it and they were too quick to ar­rest him, so it didn’t look good at all.”

“It shocked me. This was a mat­ter that was dis­missed and to see him be­fore the court again to an­swer this mat­ter, I am amazed that the sys­tem choose to come af­ter the man. He is my MP and I am voic­ing my sup­port that he would see this through.”

“When I saw it yes­ter­day on the tele­vi­sion, we were very much alarmed and we were dis­ap­point­ed be­cause we did not have any pri­or knowl­edge of Mr David Lee be­ing in any such thing. We know him as a clean per­son, so it was dis­ap­point­ing to us to see what’s hap­pen­ing, we hope that all things go well with our MP and all things be in his favour.”
