Although the usual number of visitors to Maracas Beach appeared fewer today, lifeguards on duty remained uncertain if it was a result of the shark attack in Tobago.
Lifeguard Kevin Quintero told Guardian Media the crowd at 2.45 pm was less than they were accustomed to receiving.
Aware of the shark attack at Courland in which a British national sustained critical injuries, Quintero extended sympathies to the victim and his family.
Turning his attention back to his beach, he urged beachgoers this weekend to exercise caution and heightened vigilance as the weekend approached.
