One of the first things you would most likely notice when you see the Samsung S20 Ultra 5G is its rear camera configuration.
It is dependent on you whether this is either aesthetically pleasing or jarring or to the eye.
To me, it was the former.
The phone has four rear cameras.
According to its specs the four cameras that it has located at its rear are an ultra-wide camera, a wide-angle camera, a telephoto camera, and a depth vision camera.
If all this is gibberish to you, have no fear all it means is that the phone takes amazing pics. It also has a “100x space zoom” branding on the back of the phone.
Apart from the rear camera the phone also offers a selfie camera.
Of course, a must-have for any phone at this time.
The selfie camera is allocated at the top-centre of the front screen.
The S20 Ultra 5G also helps answer that nagging question of whether you should take a photo or a video when faced with something interesting.
Well the S20 Ultra 5G responds why not take both?
According to Samsung “With Single Take, stay in the moment while you capture the moment using integrated AI technology. Single Take uses the camera system and AI to capture a number of photos and videos at once and recommends the best shot for you.”
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
While to me it looked as though both the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the S20 Ultra 5G were the same size and feel, a female colleague eyeballed the two phones side by side and said the S20 Ultra 5G was bigger.
She was right.
The length of the Galaxy Note 8 is 6.3 inches. While the length of the S20 Ultra 5G is listed as 6.9 inches.
Apparently, size does matter.
There’s no difference in width though.
The S20 Ultra 5G is 8.8 mm thick.
The phone is 220 grammes heavy.
One of the most impressive features for the S20 Ultra 5G for me was its battery life.
When I first picked up the phone for use from Reputation Management Caribbean’s office Nelleen Worrell remarked that the phone was on for three days and was still alive.
This proved to be true days later when I was placed in a predicament and needed to record an interview.
My phone’s battery was dead but I went to look for the S20 Ultra 5G that remained uncharged for days, it still had juice.
The phone is outfitted with a huge 5,000 mAH battery and is said to be able to deliver 12 hours of endurance when set to the default 60 Hz refresh rate.
I was able to record the interview without incident.
Hallelujah!
The S20 Ultra 5G recording quality has been improved with the high acoustic overload point Mic that minimises distortion in noisy environments.
The colour, a cosmic gray, can be described as sophisticated.
It also comes in cosmic black.
There is also a slight curve on the right and left edges of the screen which allows for more screen interface.
My one complaint is that it has no headphone jack.
I searched long and hard for one but sadly came up empty-handed.
If you’re looking for a phone with some amazing capabilities you won’t go wrong with the S20 Ultra 5G.
