One man was killed and his friend left fight­ing for his life in a hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a shoot­ing in Tacarigua on Sat­ur­day night. 

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 6.45 pm on Sat­ur­day, Nicholas “Chucky” Bat­son and Joshua Cae­sar, both 20, were lim­ing out­side a friend’s house at John­ny Street, Tacarigua, when a white Toy­ota Corol­la stopped next to them. 

Three oc­cu­pants of the car re­port­ed­ly got out and shot at the group of friends who at­tempt­ed to run away to evade be­ing hit.

The gun­men then re­turned to the ve­hi­cle and drove away.

Cae­sar, of Lash­ley Street, Tu­na­puna, was shot in his head.

He was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex where he re­mained ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion, up to late yes­ter­day. 

Homi­cide de­tec­tives found Bat­son’s body when they re­turned to the com­mu­ni­ty to con­tin­ue their in­ves­ti­ga­tions, ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing. 

Bat­son, of Par­tap Street, Tacarigua, was pro­nounced dead on the scene by a Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer (DMO). An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be per­formed on Bat­son’s body at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James to­day or lat­er this week. 

Bat­son’s mur­der and that of a cou­ple from Cara­pichaima, whose bod­ies were found in a car at Fac­to­ry Road in Ch­agua­nas, yes­ter­day morn­ing, raised the mur­der count for the year to 560.
