A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the wounding of a 64-year-old man in Carapichaima on Sunday night.
According to reports, around 8:00 p.m., the elderly man was tending to his farm animals at Harry Goland Street when he was approached by someone known to him. During the encounter, the elderly man was chopped multiple times about the body.
Despite his condition, the victim managed to call for help, and residents in the area responded.
He was taken to the Couva Health Centre for initial treatment before being transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital for further medical care.
Police officers were alerted, and following their investigation, the suspect was taken into custody.
