A 25-year-old man has been ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the wound­ing of a 64-year-old man in Cara­pichaima on Sun­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 8:00 p.m., the el­der­ly man was tend­ing to his farm an­i­mals at Har­ry Goland Street when he was ap­proached by some­one known to him. Dur­ing the en­counter, the el­der­ly man was chopped mul­ti­ple times about the body.

De­spite his con­di­tion, the vic­tim man­aged to call for help, and res­i­dents in the area re­spond­ed. 

He was tak­en to the Cou­va Health Cen­tre for ini­tial treat­ment be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for fur­ther med­ical care.

Po­lice of­fi­cers were alert­ed, and fol­low­ing their in­ves­ti­ga­tion, the sus­pect was tak­en in­to cus­tody.
