A 38-year-old man has ap­peared be­fore a Point Fortin Mag­is­trate, charged with the mur­der of Sub­ri­na Thomas, which oc­curred on Feb­ru­ary 13.

Akim Lon­don of Point Fortin was al­so charged with Pos­ses­sion of a Firearm and Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion, when he ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Ali­cia Chanka, in the Point Fortin Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day.

Thomas, 45, of Aripero, was at the Point Fortin home of a rel­a­tive on Mon­day, Feb­ru­ary 13 when she was shot mul­ti­ple times by a gun­man who fled the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the mat­ter re­sult­ed in one male sus­pect be­ing ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (SWDTF) on March 14.

Lon­don was charged with mur­der by PC Mathu­ra, of the HBI Re­gion Three and by PC Soogrim of the SWDTF, with Pos­ses­sion of a Firearm and Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion.

The charges were all laid fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Joan Hon­ore-Paul.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to April 18, 2023.
