Quick response and CCTV footage led to the arrest and charging of a 48-year-old man who allegedly stole cooking gas tanks from GoodLuck Supermarket on Railway Road, Sangre Grande.
He has been identified as Steve Thomas, also known as 'Blacks'.
The LPG cooking gas tanks were recovered the man has been charged with larceny.
Police reported on Monday that around 11:10 am, the owner of Goodluck Supermarket at Railway Road, Sangre Grande was alerted by a noise coming from the eastern side of the supermarket.
He immediately made checks to his CCTV monitor where he saw a man dressed in a black t-shirt, black pants and black hat removing LPG gas tanks which were stored on the eastern side of the premises.
No one was given permission to take or remove the gas tanks.
The victim made a report to the police.
Ag Cpl Ali and PCs Lezama, Budhooram and Phillip of Sangre Grande CID responded.
Seven LPG gas tanks valued at $2450 were missing.
Police then went to a house on Walke Street, Sangre Grande where the seven red cylindrical LPG gas tanks were recovered.
