A 59-year-old handyman died in a suspected drowning at Maracas Bay on Tuesday evening.
Police identified the victim as Lakhan Ramsingh of LP 4 North Coast Road, Maracas.
Around 7 pm, Ramsingh was drinking alcohol and liming with his friend, Joseph Kangalee, in the Maracas Bay fishing village.
Kangalee left to attend to a pot on the fire and, on his return, discovered Ramsingh missing.
He and others searched the area and later found Ramsingh floating in the murky waters of the Maracas Bay estuary.
Ramsingh was still alive when he was pulled from the water and taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
