A 70-year-old Diego Martin man frightened away a bandit who tried to rob him early on Tuesday morning.
Police said the man locked the doors and windows of his Gokool Street home at around 6 am before going out to run errands. He returned around 9 am and noticed two glass window panes had been broken and heard a commotion inside the house.
The man called out to anyone inside and ordered them to come out, as a bandit was seen exiting the home holding a hammer. He then picked up a pitchfork and chased the bandit off his property, causing him to drop the hammer.
Officers of the West End Police Station were called in and are continuing enquiries.
