Two men am­bushed a 47-year-old man be­fore beat­ing and stab­bing him dur­ing an at­tack at Bor­de Narve Vil­lage, San Fer­nan­do, on Sat­ur­day night.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Ja­son Soogrim, 47, re­mains in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal even as of­fi­cers hunt for the sus­pects.

Po­lice said around 9pm, Soogrim, of Pan­cham Gar­dens, Cipero Road, was stand­ing along the road­way op­po­site Pi­o­neer Bar when two men came out from a black Maz­da 3, and an ar­gu­ment broke out over a fam­i­ly is­sue.

Dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, one of the men hit Soogrim sev­er­al times on the head with a piece of wood, while the oth­er stabbed him mul­ti­ple times about the body.

Soogrim was tak­en by a friend to the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty and lat­er trans­ferred to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed for sev­er­al in­juries, in­clud­ing a 5-cen­time­tre cut to the right side of his head, a 2-cen­time­tre punc­ture wound near the up­per back, and small­er wounds to the chest and back.

And, po­lice ar­rest­ed three men and seized il­le­gal drugs dur­ing two an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions in the South­ern Di­vi­sion over the week­end.

The first op­er­a­tion, con­duct­ed in the Mara­bel­la dis­trict be­tween 11 pm Fri­day and 2 am Sat­ur­day, led to the ar­rest of one man who was al­leged­ly found with a quan­ti­ty of co­caine and is al­so want­ed for sev­er­al lar­ce­ny of­fences.

In a sep­a­rate op­er­a­tion on Sat­ur­day, of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed two men from Moru­ga for pos­ses­sion of cannabis. Po­lice said one had 75 grams and the oth­er 65 grams.

Sev­er­al homes and known drug blocks were searched dur­ing the ex­er­cis­es. - Rad­hi­ca De Sil­va
