A Maloney man was arrested on Sunday hours after he allegedly assaulted his mother and father at their home. Police had previously warned him after he had threatened them.
The elderly couple was at their home at Sargent Drive, Red Hill, D’Abadie around 7 am on November 19, when their 26-year-old son picked up two boulders and walked up to the father and ordered him to stop looking at him.
The couple contacted police who visited the house and cautioned the suspect against threatening persons living in the home.
Hours later, an emergency call was received via the Command Centre of a situation at the house.
Arriving officers found the mother with wounds to the face, where she had been struck with a piece of wood by her son. The father had been beaten about the body, and several boulders thrown at the house causing damage to windows and doors.
The suspect who was still at the residence was arrested and taken to the Maloney Police Station.
Enquiries are continuing.
