One man was ar­rest­ed and a chain­saw was re­cov­ered fol­low­ing a rob­bery in Rio Claro yes­ter­day. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the vic­tim told po­lice that she se­cured her home around 7:55 am and left.

Up­on her re­turn, she no­ticed a Stihl MS 250 chain saw and oth­er equip­ment miss­ing in­clud­ing a weld­ing plan, a quan­ti­ty of jew­ellery, and two lap­tops. The miss­ing items had an es­ti­mat­ed val­ue of $31,000.

Of­fi­cers at­tached to the Rio Claro po­lice sta­tion vis­it­ed the scene, where the weld­ing plan was dis­cov­ered at the back of the home. Fur­ther en­quiries led the of­fi­cers to ini­ti­ate a sur­veil­lance ex­er­cise at Ma­ha­bals­ingh Trace.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers ob­served two men test­ing a Stihl chain­saw. They en­gaged the men, how­ev­er, one es­caped while the oth­er, a 27-year-old from the area was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Rio Claro Po­lice Sta­tion along with the chain­saw.
