One man was arrested and a chainsaw was recovered following a robbery in Rio Claro yesterday. According to police reports, the victim told police that she secured her home around 7:55 am and left.
Upon her return, she noticed a Stihl MS 250 chain saw and other equipment missing including a welding plan, a quantity of jewellery, and two laptops. The missing items had an estimated value of $31,000.
Officers attached to the Rio Claro police station visited the scene, where the welding plan was discovered at the back of the home. Further enquiries led the officers to initiate a surveillance exercise at Mahabalsingh Trace.
During the exercise, officers observed two men testing a Stihl chainsaw. They engaged the men, however, one escaped while the other, a 27-year-old from the area was arrested and taken to the Rio Claro Police Station along with the chainsaw.
