An ar­gu­ment over a bad dri­ve re­sult­ed in the death of a 64-year-old dri­ver af­ter he got hit on his head on Fri­day.

Ronald Nand­lal, of Mis­sion Road, Freeport, was tak­en to the Cou­va Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty where he was pro­nounced dead.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 5.15 pm near Rus­sell Ram­per­sad Hard­ware along the South­ern Main Road in Chase Vil­lage.

Po­lice in­quiries re­vealed that af­ter the ac­ci­dent Nand­lal was ar­gu­ing with the oc­cu­pants of a green garbage truck over reck­less dri­ving when the two oc­cu­pants came out and ac­cost­ed him. One of the men struck Nand­lal on the back of his head with his hand while the oth­er oc­cu­pants kicked the left wing mir­ror of Nand­lal’s ve­hi­cle.

Nand­lal col­lapsed on the ground and ap­peared to be un­con­scious. The two oc­cu­pants re­turned to the truck and drove off.

Of­fi­cers of the Freeport Po­lice Sta­tion vis­it­ed the scene and are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions. When Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed Nand­lal’s home yes­ter­day, his rel­a­tives de­clined to give an in­ter­view.
