A Jamaican national was killed in Chaguanas yesterday morning, while his compatriot was detained by police in connection with the incident.
Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen, head of the Central Division, said the identity of the deceased man had not yet been established. He said police believed he was a Jamaican national, based on information gathered from people in the area.
The second man, a 31-year-old Jamaican national, was detained and taken to hospital under police guard after reportedly sustaining a chop wound to his head.
Police believe the duo had a scuffle around 7.45 am in a bar near Busy Corner and attacked each other with a knife and a Chinese chopper. Investigations are ongoing. —Shastri Boodan
