RAD­HI­CA DE SIL­VA

Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions Roger Gas­pard has in­struct­ed the po­lice to charge a 32-year-old man for the mur­der of Sco­tia­bank em­ploy­ee Giselle Pe­ters.

The sus­pect, of Es­tano Cir­cu­lar, Va­len­cia, was one of two peo­ple ar­rest­ed at a house in Va­len­cia on Mon­day night.

The sus­pects were ap­pre­hend­ed more than a week af­ter the mur­der dur­ing a co­or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cise in­volv­ing of­fi­cers from the South­ern Di­vi­sion Homi­cide and Va­len­cia Po­lice Sta­tion.

The man who was charged will ap­pear be­fore a mas­ter of the court on Mon­day in con­nec­tion with the mur­der charge.

The oth­er sus­pect was or­dered re­leased by Gas­pard.

Pe­ters, 38, was at­tacked on Ju­ly 27 by three rob­bers who left the knife em­bed­ded in her neck. She had gone to Phase 2 of the Re­form Res­i­den­tial De­vel­op­ment in Gas­par­il­lo to check the progress of the con­struc­tion on her two-storey home when she was at­tacked and robbed.

An au­top­sy done at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James con­firmed she was stabbed mul­ti­ple times dur­ing the at­tack by the ban­dits who had stormed her prop­er­ty.

Pe­ters’ screams around 11.35 am alert­ed neigh­bours, who then wit­nessed the sus­pects flee­ing the house. As they hur­ried in­to a ma­roon ve­hi­cle, one of the sus­pects was heard shout­ing, “Dri­ve, Dri­ve, Dri­ve.”

Pe­ters was found strug­gling on the floor with the knife in her neck. She suc­cumbed to her in­juries be­fore the am­bu­lance and po­lice could ar­rive at the scene. Her bag was nev­er found.
